Privacy policy

ActBy is built so that your contracts, receipts, and documents stay on your phone. We do not run a server that holds them, and we cannot see them.

What ActBy stores, and where

The deadlines you track, the amounts at stake, your saved-money ledger, the name and address you type for cancellation letters, and your country and language settings are written to a database on your phone. They are not transmitted anywhere. If you delete the app, they are gone with it.

The permissions the app asks for

• Camera. Used only when you open the scanner, to photograph a contract, receipt, or document. Photos are read on the device and are not uploaded.
• Photos. Used only when you choose an existing image to read. ActBy receives the single image you pick and nothing else from your library.
• Notifications. Used to deliver the reminders you switch on. They are scheduled by your phone, not sent from a server, so they work offline.
• Calendar. Used only after you tap "Add to calendar" on an item. ActBy creates its own calendar, named ActBy, and adds, moves or removes only the events in it; it does not read the events in your other calendars. If your default calendar account syncs, for example with iCloud, the ActBy calendar syncs through that account like any other calendar on your phone, and ActBy never receives a copy. Delete everything asks ActBy to remove that calendar. If iOS prevents its removal, ActBy tells you what remains and how to remove it in Calendar.

Reading documents

Text recognition is Apple's Vision framework, built into iOS, and runs on your device. The image is never sent to us or to any other service. ActBy deletes the photograph the moment it has been read, whether the reading succeeded or not, and clears anything a crash might have left behind the next time it starts. The same applies to a cancellation letter: the PDF exists only until the share sheet has taken it.

No scan image, no text read from it, and no measurement of how the reading went is sent to us or to anyone else.

Identity documents get one further restriction. A passport or ID card carries your name, document number, date of birth, and nationality in its machine-readable zone. ActBy keeps the expiry date from it and nothing else. The recognised text is shown to you once, so you can check the reading, and is discarded when you save or close the form. There is no face recognition and no biometric processing of any kind.

What we never do

• We do not connect to your bank or see your transactions.
• We do not sell or rent your information. The app transmits none of it.
• We do not embed advertising or analytics. Nothing in ActBy measures what you do with it, and nothing in it reports on itself.
• We do not cancel contracts on your behalf, so we never act in your name.

This website

The site sets no cookies and loads nothing from other companies: no fonts, no scripts, no beacons. The calculators run entirely in your browser, and the dates you type into them are never sent anywhere.

Your rights

European data protection law gives you rights of access, correction, deletion, and portability. Because your data lives on your device and we hold no copy, you exercise them directly: Settings has an export that hands you a machine-readable copy of everything, and a delete that erases all of it, temporary files included. There is no undo.

One thing ActBy cannot promise on your behalf is your phone's own backup. ActBy runs no cloud service and holds no copy of your data anywhere. But if you use iCloud Backup, iOS may include ActBy's data in your device backup, as it does for other apps. That copy is Apple's, under your Apple account, and we never see it. You can exclude ActBy from your device backup in iOS Settings today. A switch inside ActBy to keep its data out of device backup, off by default, is planned.

If cloud sync is ever added it will be optional, will ask for your explicit consent, and this policy will be updated before it ships.

Paying for the app

ActBy is free. A later version may offer an optional one-time purchase for convenience features; it will never be a subscription. If you buy it, the payment is handled entirely by the app store you buy it from. We never see your card details, your billing address, or your name, and no payment information is stored in the app.

Nothing you can do in the app to meet a deadline will ever sit behind a payment. That is a product rule, not a promise about a price.

Children

ActBy is a tool for managing contracts and is not directed at children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. ActBy never goes online, so a change in what the app does with your data can only arrive with an app update, and that update's release notes will say so.
